Here's a quick way to grab a set of directory file names as a text list so the info can be copied and pasted into a spreadsheet. Please note I am using the XP operating system and Microsoft Outlook's email application to demo this on a PC.
1) From My Computer, navigate to the directory on your computer that holds the files you want to grab. Double-click on the directory to open it. From the directory word menu, select View >> Details.
2) Highlight the files you wish to copy. If you want to select all the files in the directory, use the Ctrl-A command to highlight all the files.
3) Once the files are highlighted in blue, move your cursor over the blue highlighted files, and press your right-mouse key once. In the submenu that pops up, select Send To >> Mail Recipient.
4) In the Send Pictures Via Email box that appears on the screen, leave the radio button that corresponds to Make All My Pictures Smaller checked and press the OK button.
5) In a minute or two, Outlook will launch an email message window that contains the text list of all the file names you originally highlighted in the directory.
6) You may now use your cursor to highlight and copy (Ctrl-C) the file text list for pasting (Ctrl-V) into your spreadsheet.
